Primus is a planet that was introduced in the eponymous episode of Ben 10: Alien Force.[note 1]

History

Alien Force

Primus' existence was first hinted in Ghost Town when Vilgax freed Zs'Skayr in exchange for a secret about the Omnitrix. This secret was later revealed to be the existence and location of Primus in the eponymous episode, where Primus appeared.

Intending to disable the Omnitrix and take it from Ben, Vilgax went to Primus. Sensing his arrival, Primus called Azmuth and the Omnitrix. The Omnitrix left Ben to Azmuth to help him defeat Vilgax. Vilgax eventually defeated Azmuth and took the Omnitrix but was unable to use it. Upon learning how important Primus was for Azmuth, he threatened to destroy it, but Ben was able to trick him in order to take the Omnitrix from him and defeat him. After Vilgax was gone, Azmuth moved the location of Primus so Vilgax could not find it again.

Description

Primus (214)

Actually a giant organic machine created by Azmuth, it was the source of the DNA samples for the Omnitrix and Ultimatrix.

Primus appears as a jungle-like planet, full of vegetation and various unintelligent alien life forms, some of whom are dangerous. The main creatures on Primus are Volaticus Biopsis, mosquito/wasp-like robots created by Azmuth that traveled the universe in order to find new alien DNA to add to the Codon Stream. Primus seems to have a mind of its own, as it was able to call Azmuth when Vilgax arrived.

The main element of Primus is the Codon Stream, a green liquid substance present throughout Primus. It actually serves as the database for the Omnitrix, containing all the DNA the Volaticus Biopsis found in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Omnitrix communicated with this database, which gave it the information necessary to modify the wearer's genetic code and allow them to transform.

Trivia

Notes

  1. It was stated that Primus was no longer the source of DNA for the Omnitrix in Omniverse.[DJW 1]
    • Derrick J. Wyatt joked that Primus was erased from continuity by the Annihilarrgh in So Long, and Thanks for All the Smoothies.[DJW 2]
    • Matt Wayne stated that this is not definite as it wasn't addressed in the series.[MW 1][MW 2][MW 3]
    • One of the mandates the crew got from the higher-ups when they started Omniverse was to clean out a lot of the pointless and convoluted continuity that had been turning viewers off from the franchise. According to Derrick, the idea that the Omnitrix is a way to walk in the shoes of another life form, and the original Alien Force idea that it is a database for all known sentient life is a much cleaner concept.[DJW 3]
    • In Dwayne McDuffie's pitch for Omniverse, Primus was to have been destroyed by Annihilus Stalk (who became the basis for the character Khyber) using the Predatrix (which became the basis for the Nemetrix).[OV Proposal 1]
    • When made aware of Matt's statements on the matter, Derrick stated there was a 0% chance that Primus was not erased from continuity,[DJW 4] later elaborating that, since one of the Omnitrix's functions is as a storage device, there is no need for a backup.[DJW 5]
    • Derrick later stated none of the retcons featured in Omniverse were caused by Ben recreating the universe as Alien X,[DJW 6] putting his original statement into question. However, it is implied by Dan Riba that the universe being recreated was the reason for some of the retcons.[DRi 1] As the topic was never addressed in the series, the wiki considers Primus to still be canon.
