Singlehanded is the seventh episode of the second season of Ben 10: Alien Force, and the thirty-third episode overall.

Synopsis

A bounty hunter is hot on Ben, but when he gets his chance to remove the Omnitrix from Ben's wrist, he sends Ben deep into the Null Void!^{[CN 1]}

Plot

While Ben as Spidermonkey is escaping from Sunder the Retriever, Sunder's Energy Axe strikes the Omnitrix, teleporting Ben to the Null Void and leaving his Omnitrix hand on Earth.

As Ben is running from a Wigzellian Orc Beast, his hand attempts to find Julie but is caught by a dog instead. The dog's owners take the Omnitrix away and accidentally transforms him into Big Chill. Big Chill freezes the Vulpimancers that are chasing him, but they escape. He then transforms into Swampfire and forces them to retreat with fire blasts. However, the dog's owners are scared away by the blast. Ben then transforms into Jetray to find Max's old Null Void camp. However, his Jetray hand grabs Julie's leg, causing her to freak out and whack the arm repeatedly.

This causes Jetray to transform back into Ben and fall towards jagged rocks. He is saved by a Null Guardian, who proceeds to slobber on his head. Julie sees the hand and takes it to Gwen and Kevin. Sunder appears, but Gwen and Julie fight him off while Kevin tries to bring Ben back. Julie accidentally transforms Ben into Diamondhead, who brings down the bridge Ben is walking on. Ben makes it to Max's hovel, but finds it overrun by Havoc Beasts. Kevin brings Ben back (without his left hand), but his hand is found by the Havoc Beasts and they use the Omnitrix. Ben transforms into Brainstorm, Humungousaur, and Echo Echo to fight Sunder.

Ben's hand reappears while Sunder is sent to the Null Void, who then ends up fighting a large Havoc Beast while the other Havoc Beasts cheer.

Ben: (going to turn alien) Oh I'll give you the Omnitrix alright! (goes to slap the Omnitrix, sees that his hand is missing) Ah, not again!

Kevin: (to Julie and Gwen) And I can't build this thing and protect two ladies at the same time. Gwen: This lady can protect herself, thank you very much! Kevin: But she needs a weapon! Julie: I already have one. (shows Ben's cut-off hand) Kevin: So you're saying you wanna hold Ben's hand!? (laughs) Gwen: (finding it romantic) That's not funny! Kevin: (continuing his joke) It could come in handy. Gwen: (annoyed) Done? Kevin: (taking the hint) Yeah, I'm out.

Brainstorm: Sunder, I implore you, do not exact vengeance upon my veracity-impaired colleague. I hereby definitively, albeit reluctantly, relinquish all claims on said Omnitrix, and render it into your possession forthwith. (zaps Sunder with electricity) I believe the vernacular is "psyche".

Brainstorm: (after being knocked back by Sunder) I sincerely doubt you would display such bravado were you cognizant of your imminent encounter with... (he touches the Omnitrix symbol on his chest and transforms into Humungousaur) Humungousaur: HUMUNGOUSAUR!

Continuity

• In the Null Void, Ben visits Max's hovel, which he used during his time as the Wrench, first seen in Voided.

Allusions

• Ben's severed hand seemingly having a mind of its own is similar to Thing of the The Addams Family.
• The scene where Ben as Spidermonkey web slings across the city away from Sunder is very similar to the fight with Spider-Man and the Green Goblin in the Spider-Man series. The music in the scene is also similar to the Spider-Man theme.

Errors

• In a few shots, when Ben's hand is on its own, the Omnitrix dial faces the wrong way.
• When the unnamed boys activate the Omnitrix to transform Ben into Big Chill, they simply tap the faceplate rather than pressing it down. Ben was shown to attempt this in previous episodes, yet nothing worked.
• When Swampfire attacks the Vulpimancers, the leader doesn't have its back stripes.
• When Swampfire turns into Jetray, a transformation sequence is shown. The sequence shows Ben transforming, even though he was Swampfire when he transformed and did not revert to Ben between transformations.
• When Julie first shows Ben's hand to Gwen and Kevin, her tennis racket is in the middle of red unit it's lying on, but for the rest of the scene, its handle sticks over the edge of the unit.
• In one shot, Gwen's design is mirrored.
• For a second, the Null Guardian's saliva is blue instead of green.
• When Gwen and Kevin argue about which alien to turn Ben into, Brainstorm, Echo Echo and Diamondhead's holograms face away from Julie.
• Julie doesn't recognize Humungousaur or Swampfire despite seeing Ben use both aliens in previous episodes.
• Diamondhead's jaw does not move when he yells.
• Diamondhead is able to shoot crystal shard projectiles from the cut area of his left arm even though his hand is on Earth.
