	The Gauntlet

Prologue

Speaker	Dialogue
Midday, outside an abandoned warehouse. Flashes of light and sounds of a battle can be heard from outside. Inside, Kevin is coated in concrete and dodging lasers, one of which hits him in the shoulder.
Kevin	Ugh!
Ben	You okay?
The laser is shown to have pierced both Kevin's coating and shirt, but not the skin.
Kevin	Been better.
Both of them watch Gwen jumping between Manna platforms to dodge lasers, revealed to be from a blue robot. Gwen continues to evade while lowering herself to the others. Ben is repeatedly tapping on the Omnitrix.
Gwen	We're in trouble.
Kevin	Ya think?
Gwen	(to Ben) How long before you can change?
Ben	Still need a few seconds.
Gwen	I'll see what I can do.
Gwen creates a Manna construct to surround the Robot, which the Robot easily smashes through.
Gwen	Ugh! Ben!
Gwen rebuilds the construct, only for the Robot to smash through it again.
Gwen	Ugh! Running out of time here!
Ben	(twisting the Omnitrix's dial) Almost...
Gwen rebuilds the construct once more, and the Robot destroys it again, this time completely shattering the Manna around Gwen's hands.
Gwen	That's it, Ben!
Kevin absorbs the concrete floor and repairs the shoulder's coating, before leaping and punching the Robot right in its 'face', sending it tumbling backwards. Kevin charges in for another attack, only for the Robot to grab Kevin and starts crushing him, cracking the coating. Gwen rushes to Kevin's aid.
Gwen	Let him go!
Gwen hits the robot with a whip of Manna, cutting the Robot's hand off and sending both the hand and Kevin onto the floor. The Robot looks at the stump for a moment before turning back to the trio, its crown glowing red.
Theme Plays

Act 1

Speaker	Dialogue
The Robot's crown is still glowing red.
Gwen	Uh-oh.
Ben	(activates Omnitrix) It's okay, I'm back in business. You know who would be perfect for this?
Kevin	(prying open the Robot's severed hand) The suspense is killing me.
The Robot stands before Kevin, its crown still glowing. Ben selects and turns into a gelatinous mass held by an Anti-Gravity Projector.
Goop	Gooooop!
Gwen & Kevin	Ewww.
Goop	You know this is cool.
Goop uses the gravity projector to float towards the Robot. The Robot's attack on Goop is completely ineffective due to Goop's slimy nature. Gwen and Kevin watch in amazement.
Goop	(to Robot) Hey!
The Robot's crown glows red again and slams Goop into the ground with its remaining hand. Goop rises between the Robot's fingers and into the air. The Robot steps backwards and fires more lasers from its fingertips. However, the lasers go straight through Goop, who regenerates. The Robot fires a stronger blast from its palm, blasting Kevin, Gwen, and Goop out the window and right by Kevin's Car. Goop's gravity projector reaches and reforms Goop just in time for the Robot to leap out of the building and smack the projector away, reducing Goop to a puddle once more. After the projector lands next to Kevin, the Robot starts regrowing its hand. The projector tilts and turns as Goop speaks.
Goop	Um, that's not gonna happen.
Goop's projector moves to gather his body and Goop dives inside the Robot through the hand. Goop expands from inside the Robot, causing it to explode and bits of Goop raining on the driveway, Gen, Kevin, and Kevin's car.
Gwen	Ben, get off of us.
Goop	Sorry.
Kevin	You outta be.
Goop's gravity projector regathers the Polymorph before turning back into Ben.
Ben	That was pretty cool, though. Like the old days.
Kevin	Whatever. (picks up the Robot's hand) Long as we took care of this thing for good.
Kevin backhands the trunk open and tosses the hand into the trunk of his car, before closing the trunk. Inside the trunk, the robot hand twitches.
Later, outside Mr. Smoothy. Ben is ordering smoothies where Cash and JT are hiding behind a corner, while Kevin wipes his car with Gwen right next to him.
Kevin	I swear there's still Tennyson goo on here.
Gwen	No there isn't.
Ben receives and carries his order of three smoothies...
Ben	(sniffs) Nectarine smoothies for everybody!
...only for Cash from offscreen to smack the smoothies onto his shirt and jacket.
Ben	Hey! (looks at his stained clothes) Aw. Should've said on everybody.
Cash and JT reveal themselves and laugh at Ben's expense.
Cash	Whoops. Hey, JT, looks like somebody had an accident.
JT	Yeah, lookit that mess, Cash. Need me to get you a sippy cup, Ben? Or maybe a diaper?
Cash & JT	(laughs)
As they laugh, the other teenage patrons look on in annoyance. Kevin & Gwen stands up and Kevin walks towards them, but Ben raises a hand, and Kevin stops.
Ben	(to Cash & JT; calm) Okay, you got me. Good one.
Cash	Well... what are you gonna do about it, Huh?
Cash pushes Ben back, leaving a clean print of the hand on Ben's clothes. Cash notices this, and looks to his hand, seeing that it's covered in smoothie.
Cash	Ugh.
Other Patrons	(laughs)
Cash wipes the smoothie on his shirt and jeans, and sees Jt, Gwen, and Kevin fighting back a laugh. Cash leans right into Ben's face.
Cash	Now look what you made me do!
Ben narrows his eyes and readies the Omnitrix. Gwen and Kevin look concerned, before Ben lowers his arms.
Ben	You know what? You two aren't even worth it.
Cash & JT look confused.
Cash	Huh?
Ben	It's ridiculous. (grabs a napkin and wipes his clothes) Could you at least try being original for a change? You’ve been doing the same old bully routine since the second grade, Cash. It’s tired. Spilling my drink? Seriously? I can't believe I used to be afraid of you. Look around, Cash. We've all grown up.
The patrons are muttering to themselves.
Ben	But you're still the same pathetic loser who has to torment others just to feel good about himself. It's just sad.
Ben walks away to Kevin's car, the other patrons are cheering. Cash storms off and JT follows.
The trio are driving down the street.
Gwen	(offscreen) I'm proud of you, Ben. (onscreen) You could've totally gone alien on that creep.
Kevin	I woulda decked him.
Evening, Cash is kicking a can down the sidewalk while JT is following him.
JT	Man, he got you good, Cash. You should have seen the look on your face. When, when he said-
Cash	Nobody does that to me, JT! Ever! Tennyson is gonna pay! I'll get him back, then everybody will be laughing at him!
JT nervously darts his eyes, and spots across the street...
JT	Hey, it's Kevin's car.
Cash	Yeah, so?
JT	So, if it was me, I'd go trash it.
As he talks, the trio is shown to be eating at a diner where they parked.
JT	(offscreen) Leave Ben for later. You mess up Kevin's car and everybody will know you're bad. The baddest in town. (offscreen) They'll be talking about it for years.
Cash pauses, and smiles.
Cash and JT push Kevin's car down the street. The trio are distracted by Kevin putting straws up his nose as a joke. Gwen laughs while Ben looks away. Cash and JT continue pushing until the car is at a downward hill just past a dead-end sign. Cash kicks the car downhill and it soon crashes into a tree stump, opening the trunk and sends alien technology–in particular the robot hand–flying onto the dirt.
CAR HORN
JT	(worried) Dude, that's hardcore.
Cash	C'mon.
The two make their way to the car. Cash kicks it–stopping the blaring horn. JT runs to check out the trunk's former contents.
JT	Look at all this weird stuff. Think we could sell it?
Kevin	(offscreen) Hey!!
Cash and JT look up to see the trio at the top of the hill.
Kevin	What did you do to my car?!
Cash and JT run away from the trio.
Cash	Grab something!
JT carries as much as he can (including the robot hand) before running as well. He drops a metal cube and escapes just as Kevin makes his way to the bottom and sees his car. Kevin looks dejected as Gwen catches up, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Gwen	Kevin...
Ben approaches from the opposite side of the car.
Ben	They won't get far. (activates Omnitrix, selecting Jetray)
Gwen	(offscreen) Don't, Ben.
Ben	(deactivating Omnitrix) I can fly after them. I'll find them.
Gwen	Then what? Give up your secret? Like you said, they’re not worth it. Besides, they can’t hide forever.
Twilight, inside of Manny & Ken's, an abandoned mannequin factory.
Cash	(offscreen) All that cool stuff (onscreen) and you grab an arm?
Cash tosses the hand onto the table and sits down.
JT	I think it's pretty cool. Kinda like a glove. (picks up hand) Look. (puts hand on like a glove; playing pretend) Behold, the awesomeness of my mighty robot arm! (imitates laser sounds)
To the two's shock, an actual laser fires out of the hand and through the roof. JT looks at the hand in amazement while Cash looks excited.
Later, a set of bottles are lined up on a desk. Cash is crouching while JT aims the hand. JT fires a laser at one of the bottles, shattering it.
JT	Whoo-hoo-hoo!
Cash	Alright!
JT fires more lasers, shattering the rest of the bottles. Cash stands up.
Cash	Give it! (grabs robot hand, and pulls)
JT	I found it.
Cash	So? (grabs JT's face for leverage)
JT	(muffled) So, it's my turn.
Cash pushes on JT's face harder.
JT	Ah, ow ow ow!
Cash manages to pull the hand off of JT, who goes tumbling into the mannequins behind him. Cash puts on the glove.
Cash	It ain't finders keepers, JT. It's mine.
Cash fires a laser at a mannequin, blasting through it and denting the wall. Cash looks at the hand in amazement.
Cash	(laughs)
Cash fires another laser at some mannequins.
JT	Cash, you okay?
Cash	Oh yeah, this'll scare the juice outta Tennyson. Last time he'll ever talk smack to me.
JT	(chuckles) That'd be hilarious... (notices Cash's manic smirk) You're not joking...
Night, still at Manny & Ken's. JT slowly approaches a sleeping Cash and attempts to remove the robot hand. Suddenly, Cash's eyes open, glowing bright red.
JT	Aah!
JT stumbles onto the floor. Cash's eyes turn back to normal and he stands up, turning to JT.
Cash	I said, it's mine.

Act 2

Speaker	Dialogue
Day, Kevin is fixing his car in his garage, while Gwen is resting.
Kevin	(incoherent angry mumbling)
Ben walks in, holding two smoothies.
Ben	You've been here all night?
Kevin	And I'm not leaving until my ride is cherry.
Ben	(crouches) Want some help?
Kevin	(slides out) You wanna help me? Go away.
Ben	(stands) Fine by me.
Ben places the smoothies on a desk and starts to leave, before turning back to take a smoothie.
Ben	No juice for you!
Gwen wakes up just as Ben leaves. Kevin stands up and starts drinking the other smoothie.
Gwen	I'm sorry about your car, Kevin. But, (sighs) you don't have to be such a jerk to Ben.
Kevin	(stops drinking) Ugh. I got some kind of fruit bone in it.
Gwen gives Kevin a look, and takes the smoothie.
Kevin	Yeah, okay. I'll go get him.
Before Kevin can leave the garage, JT arrives, out of breath.
JT	(panting) Where's Ben? I gotta warn him. Something's wrong with Cash.
Kevin	The guy who messed with my car? ...And weren't you with him?
JT	(steps back) I-i-it was his idea! Really!
Gwen	Uh huh.
JT	Cash is looking for Ben, says he's gonna teach him a lesson.
Kevin	I wouldn't worry about Ben, I'd worry about your friend. Where is he?
JT	At - at the old mannequin factory downtown. We hang there sometimes... Okay, all the time.
Kevin	Got it.
Gwen	Kevin, don't do anything stupid.
Kevin runs out of the garage, ignoring her.
Gwen	(to herself) Waste of breath. (to JT) What happened to you, JT? Back in first grade, you and Ben used to eat paste together. You were nice. Then you started hanging out with Cash.
JT	Cash isn't so bad. I make him laugh and he always has my back.
Gwen	Both of you act like total jerks.
JT	Cash... is Cash. What do you want from me?
Gwen	Seems to me you have a lot of influence over him.
JT	Enough so I get to watch him beat people up, instead of getting beat up myself.
Gwen	(scoffs) Sounds like the basis of a great friendship.
JT	I...
Gwen	Why are you still here anyway? If Cash is such a good guy, why don't you go hang out with him?
JT	Look, I just wanted to warn Ben-
Gwen	Don't. It's not like when we were little. Ben can take care of himself.
JT	What about me? Cash is seriously bent. I mean, something's wrong. And if he finds out I told-
Gwen	Nothing will happen to you, JT.
Inside Manny & Ken's.
Kevin	(offscreen) Knock knock.
Kevin kicks open the door and looks around the seemingly empty warehouse.
Kevin	(offscreen) Don't bother hiding. Your weasel friend already told me you were here.
Cash	(offscreen) Levin? I don't have any beef with you.
Kevin	That's where we differ. You trashed my car.
Cash reveals himself. His right arm is now identical to the Robot's, and half of his torso is covered in metal.
Kevin	(smiling) Okay, that's a surprise.
Cash	Pretty cool, huh? I can also do THIS!
Cash fires a laser above Kevin, bursting through the wall and going outside.
Cash	You were just about to leave, right?
Kevin	(smiles) No, this is good.
Kevin absorbs the concrete wall.
Kevin	This is really good.
Cash	What are you talking about?
Kevin	See, now that you're all jacked up I don't have to hold back.
Kevin jumps and slams into the floor, creating a shockwave that bounces Cash into the air. Kevin throws a table at Cash, only for him to break it in half with a kick. After landing, Cash looks at himself.
Cash	That didn't even hurt!
Kevin	Yeah? How 'bout this?
Kevin charges in to punch Cash repeatedly. Cash parries, dodges, and finally catches Kevin's arm. Cash punches Kevin with the robot arm, sending Kevin flying to the wall. As Kevin lays on the ground, Cash looks at his now arcing metallic arm in surprise.
Cash	No way.
Suddenly, the building begins shaking. Cash sees the floor crack and buckle towards him like a shark swimming through water. The cause is revealed to be Kevin, uppercutting Cash as he rises from the ground. Cash is sent flying against a wall as Kevin attempts to follow up with an aerial attack. Cash fires another laser from the robot arm, blasting Kevin onto the ceiling and falls through the floor onto the floor beneath, his coating and clothes damaged and Cash rolling out of the way. Cash looks down through the newly made hole to find Kevin getting up. Cash fires laser after laser at Kevin, the latter only evading after several direct hits. Cash peaks his head into the hole and sees Kevin absorbing the metal of a steel girder. Cash dives into the hole and fires another laser, interrupting Kevin's absorption. With Kevin on the ground, Cash blasts at him repeatedly until his back is against the wall.
Kevin	Take your best shot.
Cash smiles, and Kevin is blasted back up through the above floor, with Cash jumping after him.
Kevin	Okay, that was pretty good.
Cash	Guess this means you're not the coolest kid in town anymore, Levin.
Kevin	Ngh. And you are? Not on your best day.
As they speak, the robotic metal grows to cover more of Cash's body.
Cash	You don't have to worry, Levin. This isn't about you. Ben Tennyson, that's who this is about. (offscreen) You tell him. Three o' clock, Mr. Smoothy parking lot. (onscreen) If he doesn't show, I'm coming for him.
Cash walks away, while Kevin stares at him.

Act 3

Speaker	Dialogue
Outside of Mr. Smoothy's. Ben is drinking two smoothies at once.
Ben	(belches)
Gwen	(offscreen) There you are! I've been looking (onscreen) everywhere for... How many of those things have you had today?
Ben	Let me put it this way, enough to know that carrot and chocolate aren't two great tastes that tase great toge- Oh.
JT	Hey.
Ben	(to Gwen) Why is he here?
Gwen	He came to warn you.
JT	It's Cash.
Gwen	I wasn't worried at first, but Kevin went after him hours ago.
Ben	You're worried about Kevin? Kevin's going to destroy him!
Gwen	Kevin's not like that, Ben. He's changed... a little. (ponders) Okay, maybe this is bad. We should go.
JT	I'll show you. We're not far.
JT leads them away, Ben throwing away his smoothies to follow.
Outside of Manny & Ken's
Gwen	It’s all messed up. Like there was a fight.
Ben	It's abandoned. It probably always looked like this.
JT	Those holes in the wall are new. But the garbage has been there forever. And there by the loading dock-
Gwen and Ben are already at the door, ignoring JT. JT runs to follow, and the three enter the warehouse.
Ben	Kevin?
The three find Kevin kneeled up against the far wall, still partially armored and hurt. The three rush over to him.
Kevin	(groans) Bet you're loving this.
Gwen	Kevin, what happened? Are you hurt?
Kevin	Not as bad as it looks.
Ben	Hold on a minute. Cash did this to you?
Kevin stares at him.
Ben	(laughs; notices Gwen's glare) Right. Stopping now.
Kevin	He must have got a hold of some alien tech. He kinda looks like that robot we fought yesterday.
Gwen	JT, is there anything you forgot to tell us?
JT	Umm... maybe. When we–I mean Cash–trashed your car and all that stuff fell out, we grabbed something. A big metal glove. It shoots lasers. I tried to get it back, but he wouldn't give it up. It’s like it possessed him. I'm telling you, he's not himself.
Kevin	(to Ben) He called you out, bro. Three o' clock, the Mr. Smoothy.
Ben	Okay, this is going to end. Now. (turns to leave)
Kevin	(coughs) More like in fifteen minutes.
Ben briefly looks at the Omnitrix.
Ben	Heh, doesn't tell time.
Ben turns back at Kevin.
Kevin	Go, I'll be okay.
Ben runs out the door.
Gwen	(to Kevin) I'll come back for you after.
Gwen follows Ben. JT awkwardly stares at Kevin while the latter glares.
JT	(to Ben & Gwen) Wait up!
Mr. Smoothy. The crowd's chattering is interrupted by an explosion across the street. From the dust cloud steps out Cash, his body now identical to the robot's, his head being the only exposed part, with the robot's metal growing around it. Cash steps forward, and the crowd flees.
Person 1	Oh no!
Person 2	Run!
Person 1	Run!
Two teenagers trip onto the ground, Cash looming above them.
Cash	You guys thought I was so funny? Who's laughing now?!
Ben	(offscreen) Hey!
Cash turns around to see Ben walking towards him.
Ben	What is your problem?
Cash	You’re my problem, Tennyson. But now I’ve got power. And no one can stop me, not even your friend, Kevin. (turns to the crowd) That's right. I kicked Kevin Levin's butt. (turns back) And you're next Tennyson.
Ben	I'm not gonna fight you, Cash.
Cash	Well then, (charges laser) this should be over pretty quick.
JT	(offscreen) Cash!
JT and Gwen run from offscreen.
JT	Look, this is messed up. We were supposed to be having fun. This is ain’t you, man.
Cash	You ratted me out!
Cash fires a laser at JT, only for Gwen's Manna shield to protect him just in time.
Gwen	Nice friend you got there.
Cash	(offscreen; screams)
Cash leaps towards JT and Gwen, only for Ben–now turned into Chromastone–to tackle Cash. Cash tumbles down the driveway before recovering. Chromastone stands before him.
Chromastone	Cash, listen to me. You don't want to do this.
Cash fires a laser at Chromastone, only for the laser to be absorbed and redirected, hitting the Mr. Smoothy sign. Cash fires another laser, which is again absorbed by Chromastone and this time redirected back at Cash, who goes flying backwards. By the time Cash sits up, Chromastone is right in front of him.
Chromastone	You can't beat me, Cash.
Cash	You think because you're some kind of freak I'm gonna stop? I'm never gonna stop! Ever!
Cash punches Chromastone onto his back, and quickly grabs his leg before swinging him like a ragdoll. Cash swings Chromastone onto a car, a lightpost, and finally leaps up and whacks Chromastone onto the ground. Cash swings Chromastone around and throws him into a parked semi-truck across the street. Despite this, Chromastone doesn't have a scratch on him, and merely gets up and wags his finger. Angry, Cash rushes at Chromastone, who responds in kind, grappling each others hands in the driveway.
Chromastone	(straining) Why are you doing this? Why me?
Cash	(straining) Why not?
Chromastone	I'll show you why not.
Chromastone overpowers Cash, bending the latter onto his knees. The robot armor begins cracking.
Chromastone	It doesn't have to be this way, Cash. Neither of us wins anything by fighting. Just stop.
Cash	(panicked) I can't.
JT	(offscreen) Yeah, you can.
JT and Gwen approach the two's clash.
Cash	No. The machine wants to fight. (the armor repairs itself and grows a helmet) Look, it's fixing itself already.
JT	The Cash I know isn’t gonna let a pile of scrap metal tell him what to do. You’re the toughest kid in school. Fight it!
Cash	How?
JT	That thing doesn't control you, you control it.
Cash	Maybe.
Cash starts glowing red and stops fighting Chromastone. The robot armor regresses through the stages seen throughout the episode.
Cash	Get... off... me!
The robot is reduced back into the hand, which JT rips off of Cash and throws to the ground. JT helps Cash get up.
Cash	(panting)
The two look up to see Ben, having reverted from Chromastone, simply glaring at them.
JT	(to Gwen) Thanks. (to Ben) You too. We should get together sometime and eat paste.
Ben	Huh?
JT	C'mon, Cash. Let's go.
Cash and JT walk off. Gwen turns to Ben.
Gwen	I feel like I'm forgetting something.
Ben	You did. We have to lock that robot glove up someplace where it can’t take control of anyone else.
Gwen	True, but that's not it.
The two walk towards Mr. Smoothy.
Ben	You forgot to buy me another smoothie?
Gwen	No...
Night, outside of Manny & Ken's.
Kevin	(offscreen) Hello? Anybody? Hello?!
